The term kanban of Japanese origin literally means "sign" or "card", and indicates an element of the "Just in time" system of reinstatement of warehouse stocks as they are consumed.

The kanban indicates the type of material used for a process and is affixed to a container which, once emptied, is replenished. The flow, in real time, of the supply, avoids the stock stocks and the resulting costs. Kanban cards represent the number of containers of materials that flow back and forth between the area of ​​the supplier and that of the user.

The prerequisites for achieving efficiency in the use of the kanban is to have a repetitive and standardized production, with the need for containers for the transfer of materials.

The eKanban sensor or Electronic Kanban sensor, allows to keep unchanged the operational model of the kanban system with the difference that the information for stock replenishment is transmitted in radio frequency automatically to the management system through a transceiver with LoRa technology able to communicate information to considerable distance with very low consumption.

The sensor looks like a switch for industrial use, it is easy to install and does not require any wiring. Typically it is mounted on the roller conveyors where the containers are placed to take stock of material. As soon as an empty container is removed from the roller conveyor, the sensor detects the status and communicates the request for procurement of the missing material to the computer system, or to the operator in charge of reintegration or directly to the supplier.

It is a simple system capable of considerably improving the refilling processes of materials in warehouses with the advantage of reducing errors and having statistical management data that cannot be detected with current systems.
